As a urologist, I often see men who have not had regular or preventative health care since their days in the pediatrician’s office. Life has gotten busy, exercise and a healthy diet have become sparse as kids and career have absorbed more time. It seems that many suddenly realize that they are more out of shape then they thought and worse, getting an erection has become difficult!
Erectile Dysfunction can be caused by vascular disease, atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), diabetes, sleep apnea, high stress levels, low testosterone, obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and additionally, the medicines used to treat these ailments. Men often see this as a new problem but usually this is a culmination of years of subtle, gradual, decreasing health. As they sit at my desk for the first time, many are often motivated to make some major lifestyle changes to help transform the root causes of their ailing sexual health.
Many men are motivated, but struggle with where to start, and how to safely take their life and health back. I try daily to incorporate this into my urology practice but our current medical system is strained and not designed to provide the intense personalized help needed in a typical clinic setting. There needs to be a place where men can work on their health as a whole and have a lifestyle transformation. The Men’s Health Center was created to be the place where men can come to get coordinated, personalized attention to successfully transform their lifestyle, start enjoying great health, and take their life back for them and their families.
Most men I have talked to have tried several diets and weight loss programs. Most of these worked initially except that months later the weight has crept back on and the activity has again slowed. We work with you to teach about nutrition and help you understand how to eat healthily and keep your hard earned gains. There is no box for you to fit into, no bars or shakes to replace meals. If you have ever struggled with what to do after your ‘diet’ then the Men’s Health Center is for you.
Sometimes too much information can be a bad thing. In today’s information age the difficulty is not finding something to try, but being overwhelmed with countless options. Our goal is to help coordinate and direct all of your health goals. Meeting with a physician regularly will ensure that you are getting exactly what you need and equip you with tools and knowledge for your future.
Having a heart attack a week after a new exercise plan is no way to get healthy. As men we often start at full throttle. However this may not be the best way to make safe sustainable change. We will provide you a safe plan for the new you. This often involves an evaluation by cardiology or other coordinated physicians and heart rate monitoring. By doing a complete evaluation we are better able to ensure that you will be to not only stick to a plan, but be safe doing so.
Finally, many man feel stuck. They don’t want to consider trying another program because that means they have another chance to be disappointed. I want you to be healthy. Our decision to limit patient numbers means a two-way commitment. Not only do you commit to becoming healthy, but I commit to walk with you and help you succeed. It may not be easy but it is possible. Dont’ give up!
If you have come to a point in your life where you need to make a lifelong lifestyle change, this is the place for you.
Changed my life and lost over 130 lbs cycling.
Starting this program not only gave me my life back but may have saved it! I just wish i would have done it sooner.
My goal with this clinic is to try and cure chronic medical issues such as diabetes or high blood pressure, however this is also not a replacement for a primary care physician. Chronic medical disease such as diabetes or high blood pressure will need continued monitoring and treatment and we will work with your primary during this process.
If you are looking for specific prescription refills for other more focused medical issues or if you are looking to specifically evaluate and treat male issues such as low testosterone, Erectile Dysfunction, or urinary issues, please visit Inland Urology (inlandurology.com).
I love treating people in my primary practice at Inland Urology and I often see men with great desire and motivation but who look at that road ahead of them and are overwhelmed with where to begin or how to achieve long term lifestyle change and health. Most problems that I treat in my traditional practice are a small piece of a much bigger problem.
I have become passionate about helping men achieve great health and I want a place where I could treat these problems, so Helping Men Thrive was created. This place is my passion, not my day job. It exists to develop relationships with men who are motivated to change, enabling and equipping them to change their lifestyle and take their life back.
